One district, four areas, and a seat decided by 535 votes.
District 1 is 1.1 square miles just north of downtown: from Atlantic Boulevard east to the San Gabriel city line, and from Main Street (Commonwealth Avenue, east of Garfield) north to the San Marino line. About 16,500 people live inside the district line. In 2022, the District 1 council race received 3,636 votes. Registered voters and ballots for November 2022 are counted by Census block for the blocks inside District 1, from the voter file via the Statewide Database. People and homes are 2020 Census counts for each tract. *Tracts A, B, and D run past the district line (A south of Main St, B west of Atlantic, D south past the district line), so those counts include some neighbors just outside District 1. Letter counts update live and include only verified District 1 addresses.

Certified results, City of Alhambra General Municipal Election, Nov 8, 2022. Lee 43.6%, Gutiérrez Arámbula 28.9%, Sham 27.6%. Lee did not file for 2026, so the seat is open.
Put those two numbers next to each other: about 16,500 residents, 3,636 votes. That is twenty-two votes for every hundred people. The west and south areas hold the most people and the most renters. The north had the highest turnout. A few hundred neighbors who usually sit this one out would be enough to decide it.
